Helen Deloris Combs was born on June 14, 1937 in Cushing to William Perry and Lessie (Runnels) Turner. She passed away on August 14, 2016 in Edmond, at the age of 79. She was always a wonderful example and tribute to Christ’s love for others in all that she did.

Deloris was a homemaker, but also had many jobs throughout her life. Her last job before retiring was serving as a 911 dispatcher for the City of Chandler. Prior to that she worked in the library at Chandler High School, and had also worked for many years as a secretary at the State Department of Education in Oklahoma City. In her younger years, as well as raising her (5) children, she worked various jobs including seamstress, ironing, working in a candy factory and waitressing.

Deloris is preceded in death by her parents; son, Leon “Wade” Combs; granddaughter, Elica Ann Sumrall; grandson, Johnie Lee Lewis; (3) brothers, Glenn Turner, Homer Turner, Harvey Turner; (2) sisters, Zeffie Turner and Bernice Hatten. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Jim and Pam Combs of Chandler, Elaine and Johnie Lewis of Sparks, Kathy and Vernon Garoutte, of Arkansas, and JoAnn Sumrall of Oklahoma City; sister, Eula McLaury of Cushing; (12) grandchildren, (27) great-grandchildren, and (1) great-great grandchild, her beloved cat, “Lovey,” along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A funeral service will be held Friday, August 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Chandler with interment following in the Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
