William “Bill” Burl Craig was born November 12, 1943 in Anadarko, the son of Augustus Lawrence and Aileen Alma (Lane) Craig. Bill finished his earthly journey August 28, 2021 in Shawnee. He grew up in Oklahoma and attended schools at Oklahoma City and Buffalo, OK. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves.
Bill and his wife, Patti, owned and operated numerous businesses. Craig construction, Lumber Land, C&C Pools, Country Kitchen in Garden City, KS, Peddler’s Inn Restaurant in Ulysses, KS, and Jalapeno’s Restaurant in Shell Knob, MO. In most recent years he was an estimating contractor for storm damaged roofs. Currently they resided in Wellston, Oklahoma.
On June 16, 1962 he married Patricia A. Stebbens at Buffalo, Oklahoma and shared the next 59 years together. He enjoyed family activities, vacations, coffee shop friends as well as hunting and gardening.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Augustus and Aileen; brother, James Craig and sister, Kay Dingus. Survivors include his wife, Patti Craig of the home; son, Darren Craig of Wellston; (2) grandchildren, Zachary Craig and Meagan Craig.
There will be no memorial service at this time due to the rampant spread of Covid-19. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
