Morris Wayne Garroutte was born January 5, 1926, in Porter, Oklahoma to John and Ruby (Stanley) Garroutte.  He passed away June 9, 2026, in Perkins at the age of 100.

Wayne married Isabella Whisenhunt and they had six children together, Mike, David, Nancy, John, Bonnie and Janice. After a few years, they divorced but remained friends until her passing in 2000. Wayne proudly served in the US Navy and the US Army including tours in both World War II and Korea. After completing his military service, he made a living as a miner. His first job was in Superior, Arizona then after that he worked his way up and traveled the world. He lived in Indonesia for several years but also visited Australia, the Philippines, Hawaii, Singapore, and many other beautiful places.

Wayne married his 3rd wife, Darlene Heffington-Garroutte about 41 years ago and she also traveled the world with him. Darlene was the love of his life. After he retired, they bought a beautiful house with 48 acres and settled in Carney, Oklahoma.

Wayne was always fixing something or working on something. He always had projects of some sort going but his favorite thing to do was spending time with his great-grandson, Derek.

Survivors include his daughters, Bonnie and Janice; five grandchildren, Danielle, Jennifer, Poppie, Chance and Jessica; ten great-grandchildren, Derek, Ashlee, Mikayla, Cameron, Jasmine, Nathan, Andrew, Logan, Cayden, and Skyler; five great-great grandchildren, Collin, Layton, Lianna, Jasper, Elijah; along with other family and friends.

A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Carney Assembly of God Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
