Wanda Threet Obituary

Wanda Jean Bryson Threet passed away at home in Wellston, Oklahoma at the age of 89 on April 11, 2022.

Wanda was born on August 21, 1932, in Harjo, Oklahoma and was the third of six children born to Edna Hogan Bryson and Harvey Bryson.  After losing her father at the age of six to an oil rig accident she would tell you she got the best (step) Dad the Lord could have found for her – Daddy Jimmy whose last name was also Brison. Following Jimmy’s work the family moved to Holliday, Texas when Wanda was 13 where she met lifelong friends and eventually her husband of 61 years Tom Threet of Archer City, Texas.

Tom and Wanda were married on December 24, 1950, and after living in several different states and all-over West Texas Wanda and Tom made their home in Oklahoma in 1966.  Wanda felt at peace back in Oklahoma and they settled in Wellston in 1974 where she resided until her passing.

Wanda was saved in 1963 and served the Lord faithfully for the rest of her life.  She attended Midway Assembly of God since 1983 and living for the Lord was her greatest passion next to family.

Wanda loved nothing more than visiting, cooking, eating and playing games with family (she was very competitive…double check the score competitive).  Wanda made each of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren feel special by always making everyone’s favorite meal or treat.  It was normal to see her making a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich for her grandchildren, or a fresh fried taters for her son, or fried fish for her husband and daughter that she wouldn’t even eat!  To the family she was known as Meme, named by her first grandchild who just couldn’t say Grandma right.  She loved the outdoors – boating, fishing, and swimming were some of her favorite activities and she always tried to incorporate that passion with time with friends and family.

In 2007 for her 75th birthday family members and friends were asked to describe Wanda in 3 words and the words below are a legacy she should be proud of:

LOVING                HELPFUL              DEVOTED             SELFLESS              GENEROUS         ONERY

FAITHFUL            CARING                SPIRITUAL           PATIENT               FUN

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edna Bryson Brison, Harvey Bryson, and James Brison; two sisters, Lula Richards and Beaulah Minnix; brother Charles Brison; and her beloved daughter Rhonda Fay Threet Selcer.

Wanda is survived by her daughter Jeannie Shupe of Wellston; son Tommy Threet Jr of Wellston; sister Harlene Minnix of Grand Prairie, Texas; and brother James Edward Brison of Eufaula, Oklahoma; (7) grandchildren; and (10) great grandchildren:
