Troy William Lewis, Sr. Obituary
Troy William Lewis Sr., a kind and gentle man of Davenport, passed away on December 9, 2023 at the age of 85. Renowned for his kind heart and dedication to his family, Troy leaves behind a legacy of love and hard work.
Born on February 6, 1938, in Agra, Oklahoma, to Troy and Myrtle (Harding) Lewis, Troy spent his youth alongside his best friends, Jim and Bob. The trio, growing up like brothers, were inseparable and even formed a band, with Troy on bass guitar, playing in honkey-tonks across the region. Known for their matching western shirts, Troy and Bob were familiar figures on every back road in Lincoln County.
In 1963, while singing in a Muskogee honkey-tonk, Troy met his future wife, Barbara. They married on June 27, 1964, and in 1970, settled in Davenport, where they raised their four children: Michael, Kathy, Troy Jr., and Clifford. A dedicated employee at Quapaw Rock Crusher, Troy was recognized for his remarkable work ethic, missing only three days in 37 years. His skill in car mechanics was unparalleled, often fixing any broken-down car swiftly, sometimes with parts borrowed from his brother James.
Troy took great pride in passing his mechanical skills to his sons. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also raised exceptional coon hunting dogs. While he cherished his dogs, his children and later his grandchildren were his pride and joy. A hero to his daughter and a best friend to his sons, Troy excelled in his role as a father and grandfather.
In his later years, Troy enjoyed meeting friends for coffee in the mornings, sharing stories and laughs.
Preceded in death by his wife Barbara; his parents Troy and Myrtle; brothers Ronald, Elmo, Jerry Lee, and George; sisters Barb, Joyce, Martha, and Cloe, Troy is survived by his children Michael, Kathy, Troy Jr., and Clifford; grandchildren Kayla, Justin, Jaycee, Kristal, Nicole, Billy, Devon, JT, Zane, Jaxon, Forest, and River; 12 great-grandchildren; sister Elizabeth Miller; brother James Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. A special thank you to his nieces Debbie and Michelle for providing care and comfort during his final days.
A funeral service on will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14th, 2023 at the Davenport First Baptist Church with interment to follow at Davenport Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
