Thomas Lee Gatlin was born December 29, 1954 to JB and Ina Marie (Freeman) Gatlin in Chandler. He passed away October 10, 2020 in Chandler at the age of 65.
Tom grew up in Chandler where he graduated from high school with the class of 1973. He then joined the United States Marine Corps where he served proudly for 2 years. He spent the next 35 years driving a truck until retirement in 2016. Since retirement, he worked for the Chandler School. Tom was a wonderful loving husband and father who taught his sons everything he knew. He was a part-time coach, mechanic, and financial adviser whose motto was to buy land since it is the one thing, they can’t make more of.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, JB and Ina Marie. Survivors include his wife of over 31 years, Janice (Chester) Gatlin of the home; sons, Travis Gatlin of Oklahoma City, Troy Gatlin of Chandler; sisters, Susan Havens and her husband Jerry of Shawnee, Karen Cook and her husband Mel of Choctaw; along with other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2020 in the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel in Wellston. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
