Stella Fisher Obituary

Stella Louise Fisher died on Monday, Mar 2, 2020 at Integris Canadian Valley Hospital in Yukon, OK at the age of 73 surrounded by loved ones.  She was born Dec 18, 1946 in Oklahoma City to Louie and Audra Schmidt. Stella grew up in Wellston where she attended Wellston Public Schools.  She married her lifelong sweetheart, Jimmie Lee Fisher at the age of 17, becoming a young navy wife.  Upon leaving the service, they moved back to Wellston to be closer to family and friends.  There she raised their six children, becoming a full-time homemaker.  She made wedding cakes and dresses for her children which led to a small cake decorating business.

In the early 1990’s Stella, Jimmie and the three children still living at home moved to Yukon.  She worked at a Hardees restaurant for a few years as a trainer, then became the resident cake decorator at the local Homeland grocery store.  With her husband's passing in 2009 until her death, she volunteered for Valir Hospice, making around a hundred small gifts and cards for patients on each of the major holidays.  She won several awards for her service with them.

For her, family was everything.  She enjoyed the company of family and always had food in the pantry and bedrooms available for anyone who wanted to spend the night.  She was loved and will be missed.

Stella was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmie Lee Fisher; father, Louie Henry Schmidt; and brother, Don Schmidt.  Survivors include her mother, Audra Lorene Schmidt; two sisters,  Leona Thorpe, and Laveda and spouse Bob Butler all of Wellston; three sons, three daughters and their spouses: Larry and spouse Kyla Fisher of Prague, Tammy and spouse Bobby Copeland of Oklahoma City, Robert Fisher of Yukon, Teresa Day of Shawnee, Christopher Fisher of Yukon, and Connie and spouse Jason Rowlett of Yukon; daughter-in-law, Jana and spouse Frank Chastain of Broken Arrow; thirteen grandchildren: Heather Fisher, Jessie Copeland, Kyle Fisher, Cheyenne Copeland, Michael Day, Summer Givens, Christa Day, Jimmie Day, Regan Demarest-Hogan, Lucianna Green, Ryan Nester, Bryce Doty-Day, and Robert Strong-Day; two great grandchildren, Brecklen Williams, and Felicity Juber; along with a few adopted in love are Melissa Doty, Graceland Carter, and Leah Carter.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, Mar 7, 2020 at the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel in Wellston followed by a short interment service at the Carney Cemetery.
