Sandra Kay (Oliver) McCorkle was born May 20, 1948 in Oklahoma City to Elmo and Nadine (Aday) Oliver. She passed away June 30, 2020 in Oklahoma City at the age of 72.
Sandy grew up in Guthrie where she graduated high school in 1966. She married Lyle McCorkle in 1970 and they raised 4 children together. She enjoyed working as a nail technician where she was able to visit with her clients. She also enjoyed taking her children to the show ring where often her children in a playpen drew more onlookers than their animals. Sandy will be remembered for cooking the best fried chicken around. She enjoyed playing dominos and card games at the Wellston Senior Center and attending Red Hatter events with her friends.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyle McCorkle; daughter, Cory Lyn McCorkle; brothers, Wayne Oliver and Judge Oliver. Survivors include her children, Coy McCorkle (Becky) of Holdenville, Kyle McCorkle (Meri) of Wellston, Jody McCorkle (Megan) of Stillwater, Penny McLain (Mike) of Wellston; 12 grandchildren along with other family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2020 with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A graveside funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the McKinley Cemetery in Meridian, Oklahoma with Dennis Osborne officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
