Roy Sneed Obituary

OSTELL SNEED, lovingly known as “Roy”, was the second child born to Ostella AnaJewel Sneed on December 19, 1953, in Chandler, OK. He is preceded in death by his mother; grandparents Ostell and Lillie Sneed; brothers Darnell Sneed and Pete Wrenn; sister, Teresa Wrenn; and cherished niece & nephew Jay Tubbs and “Shomi” LaShaundria Sneed.

As a young boy, Roy loved hunting, fishing, and working on the farm near his grandparents’ house in Midlothian. Often, he would make his way down the country roads past the fruit stand into town where he enjoyed hanging with friends in the bottom. He accepted Christ and attended church at Bethel AME as a child.

Roy graduated from Chandler High School in 1972, moved to Oklahoma City where he married and enthusiastically welcomed the “Jewel” of his eye, Chalaundra Sneed. As a new father and avid motorcyclist, Roy bought a toddler helmet and an extra-long belt to make sure his little “Monst” could be secured to accompany him when cruising on his bike. But when he felt the need for speed, he’d visit Thunder Valley Speedway where he was the 2003 PMRA Pro E.T. (Street Bike racing) World Finals Champ.

Roy was a loyal and hardworking man, working construction his entire life. He fully lived life through traveling to rallies with the Nasty Boys, where he held positions such as vice president and road captain with his motorcycle club, or playing pool, where he would run the table and win many tournaments at Lincoln lounge. He thoroughly enjoyed family, whether it was just bowling, traveling to nearly all of the Jones Family reunions, or fellowshipping with family & friends at his annual Labor Day backyard cookout. He always provided a safe place for family, as he was a father figure to many. He was especially proud to nickname his granddaughter’s, Jimiya Davis as Jack Rabbit and Keionna Tubbs as Cottontail. His younger siblings, Pamela Williams, Trent Wrenn and John Sneed, along with many friends are left to treasure his memory and reminisce of his brotherly love.

Roy was most proud of being a devoted husband to his loving wife, Nora Sneed, that will cherish his memory forever. Their lifelong friendship and partnership in marriage made him King of the Peach Cobbler. They shared very special moments including him being baptized, volunteering for any position at their church home, Sweethome Baptist Church, being Sergeant of Arms for Citizens for the Improvement of Chandler (CIC), or helping with Unity in the Community. They also shared in his great accomplishment of completing a 30+ year career at Lippert Brothers construction company.

In retirement, Roy enjoyed sitting in his rocking chair channel surfing any western show he could find, especially those with his namesake “Roy Rogers”. He took the greatest pleasure in taking care of the family cemetery, Mount Moriah, and will always be our guardian angel on how to do it the right way or Roy’s way. He was very humble and a man of few words, but he was a very bright light in many people's lives and will be dearly missed.

A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Chandler with interment following in the Mount Moriah Cemetery. A livestream of the funeral is available at https://www.firstbaptistchandler.org/livestream.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
