Ronald Leon Murray, Sr. Obituary

Ronald Leon Murray, Sr. was born November 10, 1935, in Davenport, Oklahoma to Roy and Grace (Baker) Murray.  He passed away April 17, 2026, in his home in Chandler at the age of 90 surrounded by family.


Ronald grew up in Davenport where he graduated with the class of 1955.  He worked as the projectionist at the drive-in theater in Davenport.  He served his country proudly in the Oklahoma Army National Guard and United States Air Force.  Later he worked with his brothers and a few friends in the oil field with John Casidy, of Stroud.  Ronald played in the band, J.C. and the Rounders.  He enjoyed motorcycles, flying, fishing, anywhere with water, and traveling with his wife, Carol.


Ronald retired from Safety Apparel in Stroud following a long career as an industrial sewing machine mechanic.  He will be remembered for making miniature wagons which he sold throughout the United States.


Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Grace Murray; siblings, Don, Billie, Faye, David, Judy, Richard, Marcella; daughter, Cheryl Murray; stepdaughter, Darlene Hixon; daughter-in-law, Theresa Murray; son, Gerald Murray; ex-wife, Shirley Murray; along with other family and friends.  Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Carol (Hicks) Murray; children, Ronald Murray, Jr., Grace Manske, Kathy Faulk and husband Mike, Louise (Kicker) McDaniel and husband Rick; stepdaughters, Jamie Hyde and husband Ron, Chris Horning and husband Ron, Tracy Love and husband Robert; multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family and a host of friends who will miss him dearly


A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
