Patricia Gaines Obituary

Patricia Ann Gaines, of Sparks, was born January 14, 1938 in Bristow, Oklahoma, to James Wallace and Ruby Alice (Sutton) Batchelor. She passed away June 27, 2020 at the age of 82.

She worked 22 years in the Lincoln County Courthouse in Chandler, Oklahoma, in a variety of positions, culminating in serving as the County Election Board Secretary. She was an adult Sunday School teacher at Sparks Baptist Church for over forty years. She was the author of the historical biography "The Journal of Amos Hannah" and the illustrated children's picture book "O. O. Octopus." She was a talented artist who painted on any surface could she find, from canvases to rocks to figurines to feathers and more.

Patricia worked in many types of artistic crafts, including jewelry and 3-D wire art. She conducted ancestry research for her own family and many others. She had an inquiring mind and was always learning new things. She loved meeting new people and learning all aspects of their life.

Her husband of 61 years and the love of her life, Jerry, preceded her in death in 2018. She is survived by her daughter Terri Branson and husband David; son Allen Gaines and wife Shelly; and three grandchildren: Ryan Gaines and fiancé Nina Linga; Tyler Gaines and wife Nicole; and Madison Gaines.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020 at White Dove Cemetery near Sparks with Clint Dawkins officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
