Sandra Kay Calvin was born October 1, 1946 to Archie Dale and Ida Mae Calvin in Chandler, Oklahoma. She passed away at her home on January 18, 2021 at age 74.
Kay graduated from Chandler High School in 1964. In high school, she was a guard on the Chandler Lions girls' basketball team and was a member of the cheerleading squad. After graduation, Kay married Brian Wayne Dennis. He passed away on July 9, 1972. She attended Gordon Cooper Vo-tech, graduating with an LPN degree. Kay married Charles Jerry Garrison on August 6, 1973 in Chandler, OK. They built a new home for their family and resided in rural Wellston, OK. In 1999, Kay and Jerry moved to Chandler, and resided there until her death. Kay loved her family and ministered to others with her servant's heart. She truly exemplified Colossians 3:23-24; "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive and inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." Kay was admired for her creativity, vitality for life, and brightening up any room with her presence. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, and especially studying God's word. Kay was a member of Chandler First Baptist Church, she taught Sunday School and was a disciple herself. As Nana and Nini, she was "the doctor, who wasn't a doctor," always having the special remedy for any peculiar ailment her grandchildren might have. Whether you called her Kay, Katy, Mother, Aunt Kay, Nana, Nini or Friend, she will be dearly missed.
