Julia Denwalt Obituary

 

Julia Mae (Penny) Denwalt was born October 5, 1936 in Union City, Missouri to Roy Edward and Gladys Helen (Chastain) Penny.  She passed away Friday, January 7, 2022 in Oklahoma City.

Julia attended Southern Nazarene University.  She married George Denwalt, Jr. April 8, 1960 in Oklahoma City.  She has lived in the Wellston and Luther area for the past 57 years and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Wellston.

Julia worked at Children’s Hospital for the state of Oklahoma for 18 years.  She worked as a supervisor for the medical equipment department and retired from the state in 1998.  She enjoyed the great outdoors.  As an example of her leadership abilities, she coached a girls softball team for the 3rd and 4th grade in 1971.  The team won every game and two tournaments.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Gladys Penny; husband, George Denwalt Jr.; and her grandson, Travis Denwalt.  Survivors include her sister, Norma Lorenz of Springfield, Missouri along with her spouse and children; brother, Alfred Penny of Springfield, Missouri along with his spouse and children; children, Deborah Winfrey of Hobart, Oklahoma, Teresa Denwalt of Luther, Oklahoma, and George (Skip) Denwalt of Wellston, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren - Kevin, Michael, Mindy, and Kathy Parker of Hobart, Jennifer and Joshua Smith of Luther, Dylana, Tailor, and Gabby Denwalt of Little Axe;  many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; other family and friends.  She will be forever in our hearts and always in our minds.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 10 A.M. to 6 P.M. with the family present from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M.  A funeral service will be held at The Way to Jerusalem Church on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. with interment following at Wellston Cemetery in Wellston, Oklahoma.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home.
