Jewell June (Huff) Gilbert

Jewell June Gilbert was born June 5, 1924 to Johnny Everett and Nora (Reeves) Huff.  She went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at the age of 95 years, 3 months and 6 days.  Jewell was the oldest of 4 children.  She is preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Wynema and Robert Ferrell; sister-in-law, Lorene Huff; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Alma Huff; husbands, Floyd Smith and Ed Gilbert.  Survivors include her brother Leroy Huff of Jenks; (5) nieces and (2) nephews; several nieces and nephews of her husbands; lots of great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces, nephews and many great friends.  Everyone who knew Jewell loved her.

She married Floyd Glenn Smith on March 6, 1942 and was united until his death December 4, 1974.  She married Ernest Edward Gilbert on July 25, 1979 and was his loving wife until his death on April 30, 1998.  She never had any children of her own but she loved all of her nieces and nephews and they all loved her.

Jewell grew beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, went fishing, loved being outdoors and being a homemaker.  She attended the First Baptist Church of Wellston until she was no longer able to go and was an active member of the WMU.  She loved working on jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her family.  Her genuine kind heart and love for others was undeniable.  Oh how precious she was to all.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 14, 2019 with Reverend Lane Buckley officiating at the First Baptist Church of Wellston with interment following in the Wellston Cemetery.
