James Donzel Price was born in Kansas City on March 26, 1969, to Janice (Whitmore) Craney.  He passed away on December 15, 2025, in Oklahoma City at the age of 56.

James joined Canaan Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He was multi-talented, very creative and artistic.  At a young age he began cutting hair for the family and community.  He loved to paint, draw, create and learned to play different instruments.  James choreographed dance and designed outfits that he would perform in. He had a passion for poetry which led him into song writing, rap, and hip-hop.

James was a member of the Kansas City Missouri Marching Cobras.  At the very young age of 10, he won a breakdancing competition at McDonald’s on 59th and Troost. He wrote Different jingles for a few businesses in the community such as Harold Penners Clothing Store and Gates BBQ Restaurant.

James is survived by his brother, Brian Craney, his beloved Aunt Marilyn Franklin, and his cousins Debra Jones, Donzell Jones, Dwayne Spencer and Allen Spencer as well as a host of loving family members who will continue to cherish his memory.

James is now reunited in peace with those who preceded him in death — his mother, Janice Craney; his grandmother, Marilyn Whitmore; his cousin, Denise Jones; and other loved ones who welcomed him home.

Beyond family, James leaves behind countless friends and loved ones who were touched by his kindness, warmth, and unforgettable spirit. Though he is no longer with us, the love he gave and the memories he created will live on forever, carried forward by all who were blessed to know him. We Love You James.  

A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday, January 15, 2026 at the Brooking Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
