Gary Ray Whiteman, Sr. was born November 14, 1945 in Capitol Hill to David and Helen (Masters) Whiteman. He passed away May 14, 2019 in Midwest City at the age of 73.
Gary grew up in Midwest City where he attended Carl Albert High School. He was an inventor who enjoyed fishing, boating, woodworking, blacksmithing, singing, telling stories, researching genealogy and metal detecting. Gary was not the greatest fisherman, but he was better than his brothers. He worked at Tinker over 30 years until he retired and returned as a contractor until his final retirement in 2010. He was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Whiteman; sister, Cordie Ball. Survivors include his wife of nearly 20 years, Frankie (DeBelle) Whiteman of the home; loving dog and best friend, Faith; children, Gary Ray Whiteman, Jr. and wife Rasheen of Jones, Cassie Raye Jones and husband Mike of Tecumseh; Robin Goforth and husband Greg of Oklahoma City, Robert Dale Beene and wife Vicki of Oktaha, Ricky Joe Beene of Norman; (16) grandchildren, Summer, Gary Ray III, Derek, Logan, Landon, Caleb Hannah, Emma, Gracie, Desirae, Cameron, Dusty, Tristen, Cody, Chantz, Barbie; (12) great-grandchildren; siblings, Elizabeth Stokesbury and husband Don of Oregon, Don Whiteman and wife Kaye of Shawnee, Michael Whiteman of Midwest City, Brenda Cooper and husband Steve of Edmond; sister-in-law, Jean Whiteman of Moore; along with many other family and friends.
A visitation will be held beginning at Noon on Thursday, May 16, 2019 with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday May 17, 2019 in the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Darrell Sullivan with interment following in the Rossville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
