Fred Talley Obituary

Fred Erwin Talley was born February 3, 1954 in Oklahoma City to Olta and Claudia (McClure) Talley.  He passed away April 18, 2024 in his home in Wellston at the age of 70.

Fred was a man of many talents and passions, but above all, he was a man of extraordinary kindness. Born in a small town, he carried that sense of community with him throughout his life.  His heart was his hometown, welcoming and warm, a place where everyone felt loved and accepted.  Fred was a boy scout who enjoyed fishing and camping.  He even led his daughter’s girl scout troop teaching them how to tie knots.  Fred was a practical joker and was always willing to help his family in any way he could.  He retired from Tinker Airforce Base following 30 years of service as a sheet metal mechanic.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Olta and Claudia Talley; and his wife, Cheryl Talley.  Survivors include his children, Jason Talley of Stroud, Bradley Talley and Amber of Stroud, Sarah Hoots and Robert of Edmond, Allison Talley of OKC, Aaron Talley and Lexie of the home; (5) Grandchildren, Ethan Hoots, Devin Hoots, Josie Hoots, Bradley Albert Talley, Langston Talley and one more on the way; brothers, Tom Talley of Wellston, Dale Bell and Marilyn of Pauls Valley, Don Bell of Lindsay; and his best friend, Mike Polach along with other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2024 in the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at a later date in the Paoli Cemetery next to his parents.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
