Erma Anderson, age 90, went to be with her Lord on July 15, 2022, surrounded by her family at her daughter, Anita, and son-in-law, Dondi’s home in Perkins, Oklahoma.
Erma was born on October 17, 1931 in Cherryville, Missouri to Otto and Martha Pyatt. She lived in Crawford County, Missouri during her childhood years. She met Ray Anderson “the love of her life”, and they married shortly after on September 8, 1951 in Salem, Arkansas. They spent most of their years together in Lincoln County, Oklahoma. From this union four children were born, Janet, Anita, Steve, and Gary.
Erma was a homemaker, but also babysat her grandchildren and some of her friends’ children. She loved to cook for her family! Her homemade hot rolls and fresh canned pickles were always some of her family’s favorites, and are still talked about and missed to this day!
Some of her hobbies included making quilts, embroidering, reading, and word search puzzles. She loved flowers and enjoyed working in her flower beds.
Erma was baptized into the Church of the Firstborn in 1976. She loved going to church and serving her Lord!
Some of her finest qualities were her loving nature and her gentle spirit. Although, she did have a feisty and spunky side, especially when it came to protecting her babies. Her granddaughter, Denise, nicknamed her “Sassy Grandma”.
Her granddaughter, Dana, asked her during her final days if she could name her five greatest blessings what would they be. Erma paused and answered all five in one statement “I love all my kids and grandkids”. She certainly treasured the time she spent with her family, but Gary says he was always her favorite because he was her baby.
Erma was loved dearly by her family and friends. Everyone always remarked about her beautiful smile! To know her was to love her! She will be greatly missed!
Erma was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Ray; her parents, Otto and Martha; son, Steve; three brothers, Troy, Ken, and Claud; and two sisters, Imajean and Marie.
She is survived by daughter Janet Herrmann and husband, Arthur; daughter Anita Earnest and husband, Dondi; son Gary Anderson; five grandchildren, Scott Herrmann and wife Meagan; Denise Wooden and boyfriend Eric Meidinger; Julie Alsip and husband Marshall; Dana Machado and husband Alfred; Tammy White and husband Jeff; sixteen great-grandchildren, Kailyn Wooden, Bekah Thompson, Karson Wooden, Lexi Mack and husband Jayden, Jackson Janes, Emma Janes, Weston Janes, Aydin Machado, Dylani Machado, Bailey McNelly, Colton Herrmann, Levi Meidinger, Adyson Machado, Whitley Herrmann, Chesney Herrmann, and Emersyn White.
