Douglas Otto Piper was born September 30th 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, the second son to Bernard and Pauline Piper, and passed away on January 1st, 2022 from complications of Lewy Bodies Dementia and Parkinson’s.
Douglas spent his childhood years in Kansas City, Ks, Fontana, Ks, and Junction City, Ks, then moving with his family to Wellston, Ok in 1964. Douglas graduated from Wellston High School in 1966. He then moved to Grand Junction Colorado in 1968 where he attended Intermountain Bible College, moving to Missouri in 1971.
Douglas spent some of his years living in Missouri, and Arkansas where he pastored, returning to Colorado in the late 1980s to care for his elderly parents. Douglas worked for Boulder Valley School District until his father’s death in 2002. Douglas then returned to Wellston Oklahoma to be with his longtime love and friend Carlotta Thompson. Douglas worked for Edmond Schools until his retirement in 2012.
Douglas spent his retirement years doing what he enjoyed the most, going to gun shows, target shooting, and fishing with friends and family. Douglas was a loving brother and friend to his brother Frankie, and his sister Debi. Douglas was also a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Pauline Piper and survived by his longtime love and friend, Carlotta Thompson, his brother Frankie Valens, his sister Debi Garner and nieces and nephews, Brandon Garner, Karlie Garner, Brian Piper, Jennifer Biondo, Mark Piper, and Heather Piper. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
A graveside funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Rossville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
