Don Wilber Hurst was born on March 30, 1935, in Warwick, Oklahoma, to Ray and Elva (Ulrich) Hurst. He went peacefully to his heavenly home on January 26th, 2021, at the age of 85 years, while closely surrounded by his loving family.
As a long-time resident of Shawnee, OK and owner of Shawnee Asphalt Company, Don built many roads around central Oklahoma. He sold his company in 1996 and began an adventurous retirement traveling in all the United States except for Alaska with his wife, Rosetta (Bailey) Hurst.
Although Don was unable to attend church services in the last few years due to injuries, in earlier times he faithfully served and loved to sing and play his guitar at his home church, formerly known as Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Shawnee.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Elva; 3 brothers and 3 sisters; stepdaughter, Lisa and nieces and nephews. Those left to cherish fond memories with Don are his beloved wife, Rosetta, close by his side for 33 years and caring for him through all his sufferings; 3 children, Pamela Hunter of Midwest City, Sheri and husband Jerry Williamson, David Hurst, both of Shawnee; stepchildren, Bobby and wife, Marci Fisk of Wellston, LaDonna and husband, Randy McClellan of Branson; 3 grandchildren, Kassidi Beatty, Krista Moix, and Dr. Ryan Hurst and wife Andrea; 6 step-grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson.
Due to necessary COVID precautions, a viewing will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Sunday, January 31, 2021 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Lehman Funeral Home in Wellston, to honor Don’s life and godly legacy.
