Dean Earl Gallaway was born April 21, 1944 in Prague to Jesse and Mildred (Parrett) Gallaway. He passed away October 15, 2020 in Shawnee at the age of 76.
Dean grew up in Meeker where he graduated from high school. He worked for Allstate as an insurance adjuster until he retired following 25 years of service. He was a lifelong fisherman who never met a stranger and loved to talk. Dean had a huge heart and could fix anything except a television. He enjoyed music and playing guitar. He never threw anything away and was constantly repurposing items instead.
Dean was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Gallaway; and brother, Boyd Gallaway. Survivors include his mother, Mildred Gallaway; wife of almost 50 years, Ruthie Gallaway of the home; children, Bobby Gallaway and wife Glenda of Choctaw, Tommy Gallaway and wife Angi of Noble, James Gallaway and wife Tina of Moore, Kevin Gallaway and wife Jessica of Stillwater, Leslie Yocham and husband Marvin of West Texas, Laurie Christian and husband Lance of Meeker; (17) grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret and her husband Dale Kennedy of Meeker; along with other family and friends.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Meeker with Reverend Joe Jones officiating and interment following in the New Salem Cemetery west of Meeker. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
