Chester Arthur ‘Chuck’ Payton, Jr was born July 17, 1945 in Beaumont, Texas to Chester Arthur, Sr and Ethel Francis (Earp) Payton.  He passed away July 11, 2021 in Oklahoma City at the age of 75.

Chuck was a welder in the oilfield for nearly 50 years.  He was also an elder in the Community of Christ in Stillwater.  Chuck was known as a jack of all trades and could fix nearly everything.  He enjoyed building motorcycles from scratch.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Chester, Sr. and Ethel Payton; and his wife of 48 years, Winnie (Hutchinson) Payton.  Survivors include his sister, Cheryl and her husband John Stahl of Jet; children, Sheila and her husband Bill Chowning of Davenport, Brian Payton and his wife Kim of Chandler; 6 grandchildren, Cody Payton, Marrissa and her husband Zak Miller, Kandi Payton, Randy Krull, Jaci Chowning, Blake Chowning; 5 great-grandchildren, Kaden Payton, Jensen Miller, Kalleigh-Jo Miller, Bryor Miller, Stacy Krull as well as 1 more on the way; along with other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Lehman Funeral Home with interment following in the Oak Park Cemetery of Chandler.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
