Billy Lee Alexander was born June 4th 1938 in Thomas, Oklahoma to Bill and Elizabeth Alexander. He passed away in the early hours of Friday morning, August 9th 2024.
The family moved to Wellston when Billy was in grade school. The oldest of three siblings, Billy and his brother Dean milked cows morning and night to help with the family dairy. He and Dean also enjoyed team roping in their spare time.
He attended Wellston Schools and enjoyed playing baseball in high school, graduating in 1956. He was drafted into the Army soon after and was stationed in Alaska where he learned to be one of the top sharp shooters on skis and was selected to be right guard for the Honor Guard, guarding our Nation’s Flag. He was honorably discharged and came home where he was soon introduced to his future wife, Darla, by his sister, Joan.
Billy and Darla were married on November 15th, 1969 and welcomed their son, Kelly the following year in the fall. Their daughter, LeeAnn arrived two and a half years later.
Billy, (Wild Bill), drove semi-trucks for Safeway and Homeland for more than twenty years. Billy’s hobby was construction. He enjoyed designing, planning and building. He and Darla designed their forever home together which was completed in 2002. They made many happy memories with their “Grand Boys”, Colton, Bryce, Brendan and Preston.
He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Elizabeth Alexander, brother Dean Alexander, and son-in-law Tom McConnell. He leaves behind his wife Darla of nearly fifty-five years, sister Joan LaLiberte, son Kelly and daughter-in-law Denise Alexander, daughter LeeAnn McConnell, grandsons Colton McCorkle, Bryce Alexander, Brendan Alexander and Preston McConnell. Nieces and nephews Jeff, Jamie, David, Susan and Ryan.
