Beulah Phipps Obituary

Beulah Mae Stiner Jones Phipps, a longtime Chandler resident, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 15, 2026, at the age of 92.

Born in 1933 near Stroud, Oklahoma, to Arnetta Belle Stults and John Harrison Stiner, Beulah was the second-to-youngest of ten children, all of whom preceded her in death. As a young child, her family joined the great migration from Oklahoma to California in search of a better life, traveling in a covered truck—an experience that mirrored the story of The Grapes of Wrath. One of her earliest memories was watching the Golden Gate Bridge under construction in San Francisco. After a year in California, most of the family returned to Oklahoma, where Beulah spent the rest of her life.

She attended school in Milfay, Oklahoma. At a young age, she married Bert Jones, and together they raised four children on a dairy farm and pecan orchard. Beulah devoted herself to raising her family, working alongside her husband on the farm, and finding joy in cooking, sewing and gardening.

In 1969, Beulah married Tom Phipps. They shared 51 years together until his passing in 2020. During those years, she enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, cooking, sewing, hosting lively family gatherings, and lovingly babysitting her grandchildren.

Beulah is survived by her three daughters: Ginger Jones Rusch, Sherry Jones Carder, and Jeanie Jones; five grandchildren: Gerry Cartmell, Shon Ashcraft, Doni Imes, Julie  L. Jones, and Johnny Carder; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Johnnie L. Jones, both husbands, and all her siblings. As the last of her generation, she leaves behind a large and loving family who will cherish her memory.

Beulah was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. Her warmth, strength, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

A funeral will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, May 27 2026 at the Presbyterian Church in Chandler followed by interment at the Stroud Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
