Barbara Ann Foster, a beloved matriarch, community leader, and storyteller, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024. Born on February 6, 1944, in Chandler, Oklahoma, Barbara lived a life full of love, laughter, and purpose.

Barbara is survived by her two sons, eight grandchildren, and a host of cousins who will carry forward her memory and legacy. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joel, and her daughter, Annette, whom she now rejoins.

Barbara’s life was marked by her passions and contributions to the communities she called home. She spent many cherished years in Pottsboro, Texas, by the lake where Joel built her dream house. After his passing, she returned to her roots in Chandler, where she continued to impact her hometown in countless ways.

Barbara loved music and dancing, riding horses, and watching basketball—never missing an opportunity to cheer on her favorite player, James Harden.

Her legacy extends across Chandler, where she served as the school board president. During her tenure, Barbara spearheaded projects to build new school facilities and introduced the wrestling program, leaving her name etched on buildings throughout the town as a testament to her dedication.

Barbara was also a creative entrepreneur. She owned Leona’s flower shop and worked as a real estate agent, delighting in pointing out the homes she helped families find as she drove through town. She was a natural storyteller, sharing vivid memories of the lives she touched.

Barbara’s impact on her family, friends, and community will never fade. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and joy. Her memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her.

A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 16, 2024, at Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston. The family requests memorial contributions be made in her honor to an organization of your choice.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
