Steven Ray Potter of North Little Rock, Arkansas was born July 19, 1971 in Chandler, Oklahoma. He passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019, in North Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 47.
Steven was the son of Paul Howard and Carol Nadine (Sturgis) Potter. After graduating from Carney High School in 1989, Steve lived in Virginia for a short time before moving to Arkansas. He lived in the North Little Rock vicinity until his passing. He worked for various companies as a maintenance mechanic, and then was employed for several years by Freightliner as a diesel mechanic. He later went into business for himself in the field of truck and heavy equipment repair.
Steve was an outdoors man and an avid hunter and fisherman. One of his favorite places to be was the Pevey Deer Camp in southern Arkansas. He loved it there, as well as watching sunsets on the Arkansas River. He had a big heart, cared about people, was respected and loved by many, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Steve leaves behind his parents, one sister, Rhonda Hover (Danny) of Carney, niece, Maegan Newport (Brice) of Carney, great nephew Bennett Newport and great-niece, Madelyn Newport, nephew Jesse Hover of Carney, niece, Ivy Hover of Carney, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins as well as a host of friends, both in Arkansas and Oklahoma.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Carney Cemetery with Jim Winiger and Alex Newport officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
