Sammy Mooney Obituary

Sammy Alfred Mooney was born February 22, 1941 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Ralph and Virgie Lee (Beckham) Mooney.  He passed away February 24, 2018 at his home in Wellston at the age of 77.

Sammy worked as a telephone system layout operator for Lucent Technology, retiring after 31 years of service.  He was a passionate loving man who had a stubborn side.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing automobiles when he was younger and working on cars rebuilding motors. Sammy loved his grandchildren and will be remembered and cherished for his love of his family. He was a Godly man who was a longtime member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Wellston.

Sammy is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Virgie (Beckham) Mooney; step-mother, Annie Mooney; brother, Robbie Mooney.  Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Patricia (Marcum) Mooney of the home; children, Steve Mooney and his wife Paula of Edmond, Tina and her husband, Tommy Ferencich of Wellston; (5) grandchildren, Ashley, Cody, Christopher and his wife, Samantha, Caitlin, Christa; (5) great-grandchildren, Hayden, Jordan, Trenton, Bane, Benjamin; along with other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Trinity Baptist Church of Wellston.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
