Ronald Franklin Shuey

Ronald Franklin Shuey was born January 13, 1939 in Oilton, Oklahoma to Elvin Franklin and Marie (Ausbrooks) Shuey.  He passed away April 11, 2018 in Oklahoma City at the age of 79.

Ronnie grew up in Oilton until he moved to Davenport as a freshman in high school.  He was a gifted athlete in Davenport where he was the very first recipient of the “All-around Athlete” award.  Ronnie graduated from Davenport High School in 1957 and attended East Central University for a short time before he went to work in the oilfield.  He was a roughneck for a period and later became a successful salesperson in various fields.  Ronnie married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Ann (Sporleder), August 11, 1959 in Davenport.  He was a Boy Scout leader, coached little league football and baseball, and later became a play-by-play announcer during the period of time his son was playing football. 

Ronnie enjoyed feeding his birds, gardening, drinking coffee in his recliner as well as boating and catfishing.  He was a great story teller who was larger than life and always had time for his friends.  He loved family gatherings and spent as much time as possible with his grandchildren.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Marie Shuey; step-father, Gene Mathis; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Shuey, great-granddaughter, Kennedy Shuey; and in-laws, Julius and Juanita Sporleder.  Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Shuey of the home; children, Stephen Shuey and wife Jean of Tulsa, Rhonda Cesa and husband David of Ardmore; (4) grandchildren, Christopher Shuey and wife Tracy, Brandon Shuey and wife Heather, Nick Cesa and wife Ashley, Amanda Cesa; (5) great-grandchildren, Kolby Shuey, Kade Shuey, Kinsley Shuey, Cheston Cesa, and Aubrey Cesa; along with many other family and friends.

Visitation for Ronnie will be held at Lehman Funeral Home Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m.  A funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the Davenport First Baptist Church with interment following in the Davenport Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
