Richard Ray Huff was born on February 10, 1928, in Carney, Oklahoma to Johnny Everett and Nora (Reeves) Huff.  He passed away on January 5, 2018 at his home in Wellston at the age of 89.

Ray attended school in Carney, Fallis and later Wellston High School.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Force and later worked at Tinker Air Force base for 28 years.  After he retired from Tinker, he drove the school bus transporting students to the Vo-Tech in Shawnee.  He then retired from Lincoln County as a grader operator after 13 years.  Ray served as the sexton for the Wellston Cemetery.  He was a member of the Wellston Masonic Lodge for 62 years and a member of the Wellston American Legion Post 61.  Ray attended the Wellston Assembly of God Church for many years.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking and taking pictures.  He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.  He enjoyed helping others and did not seem to meet a stranger.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and two great-grandchildren.  Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Alma Deloris (Davis) Huff of the home; children, Deborah and her husband, Dale Hawbaker of Woodward, Betty Jo Walton of Norman, Steve Huff and his wife Betty of Wellston; four grandchildren, Tammy, Brian and wife, Christa, Gabe, Jacob; three great-grandchildren, Micaiah, Eziah, Dezikiah; sister, Jewell Gilbert; brother, Leroy Huff, along with other family and friends.

The most important thing we want each of you to know is that we loved and were loved by a man that was bigger than life.  He loved the Lord, his family, his church and his community.  And although our hearts are broken right now, the lessons we have learned from him will stay with us the rest of our lives and someday, when the Lord calls each of us home, we will see him again.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the Assembly of God Church in Wellston with interment following at the Wellston Cemetery.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
