Ray Dean Gallaher was born January 4, 1937 in Wellston to William Franklin and Olive Gertrude (Woodside) Gallaher. He passed away June 11, 2018 in his home in Luther at the age of 81.
Ray Dean grew up in Wellston where he graduated with the class of 1956. He married Barbara Ann (Buzzard) July 31, 1959 and they raised one daughter together. He retired from the City of Edmond after many years as a Maintenance Supervisor over the sanitation department trucks. He then farmed and raised cattle, and was an avid animal lover, especially dogs. He was a great mechanic who simply figured things out if he was challenged. Ray Dean was a perfectionist at many things including his passion for woodworking.
Ray Dean was preceded in death by his parents, William and Olive Gallaher; and sisters, Louise Ketron, and Betty Porter. He is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Barbara Ann, of the home; daughter, Paula Perkins of Oklahoma City; grandson, Zach Perkins; sister, Jewel Spence; brother, Freddie Gallaher; sister-in-law, Linda and husband Donnie Jones; along with other family and friends. The family would like to thank Ray’s special nieces, Sheila Lanke, Stephanie Cornelie and the nurses from Mercy Hospice for all of their tender, loving care.
A graveside funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Luther Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
