Joyce Claudell (Wilmon) Miller was born August 2, 1936 in Davenport, Oklahoma to Elnora (Genry) and Claude Wilmon. She departed this life on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the age of 81 years. She graduated from Davenport High School with the class of 1954. She married Carroll (Butch) Miller on September 25, 1954 in Chandler, Oklahoma. They were married 25 years.
Claudell worked 12 years for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority until her retirement in 1998. She loved all kinds of music especially ragtime, hymns, and gospel. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchild. Her eyes would light up and a smile would come to her face when her family was around. She dabbled in oil painting, ceramic making, and owned a ceramic shop for a short time. She enjoyed getting together with the ladies at the monthly Red Hat Club and just having fun.
Claudell was preceded in death by her mother, Elnora (Gentry) Montgomery, her father Claude Wilmon, her step father Roy Montgomery, and her husband Carroll (Butch) Miller. She is survived by her sons, Roy E. Miller and his wife Susie Miller of Chandler; David L. Miller and his husband Allen Brawner of Oklahoma City; Prince J. Sutterland of Chandler; three grandchildren Pamela Paterson, Jessica Miller, and Joshua Miller, great-granddaughter Macee Miller; and her brother, James Montgomery and his wife Denise of Chandler.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Lehman Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Davenport Cemetery in Davenport, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
