Jennie Elizabeth Jones

Jennie Elizabeth Jones was born March 17, 1947 in Tulsa, to Walter and Edna (Foster) Gash.  She passed away July 5, 2019 in Oklahoma City at the age of 72.

Jennie’s family moved to Arizona when she was about 7, due to the severe Asthma she suffered from.  She graduated from Chandler High School, in Chandler, Arizona in 1965 and went to work at Motorola shortly after that.  She worked there for a few years, after which she went to school to be a travel agent in an attempt to achieve a goal of hers to travel.  She loved to go places and see new things always enjoying the best cuisine along the way learning a lot about all types of cooking.  She enjoyed older movies often watching for hours.  She enjoyed Disneyland with her cousins and other relatives. 

Jennie worked in her church, along with being in the CB’s clubs of the 1970’s.  She proudly reflects on a time when she purchased a new 1968 Ford Galaxy Convertible which brought her joy.  In the early 1970’s she was married to Dale Jones, but they didn’t travel well together so she traveled on her own.  She always enjoyed her family and coming to Oklahoma was always on her mind.  Edna and Jennie moved back to Oklahoma in 1997 to live in Chandler.  They worked together taking care of each other.  After Edna passed away in 2007, Jennie moved to a smaller apartment where Virginia helped take care of her.  She moved to Grace Living Center when her conditions became too much for home health care.  Jennie’s love of music and family was her inspiration.

Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Edna Gash; brother, Allen Gash.  Survivors include her cousin and caretaker, Virginia Sherman; nephew; other cousin’s family and friends.

A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2019 in the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Rossville Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
