Jacob Charles Boydston was born July 22, 1930 in Luther, Oklahoma.  He passed away October 8, 2016 in Luther at the age of 86.  J.C. was the sixth of seven children born to John and Ida Boydston.  He grew up in Luther and graduated from Luther High School in 1949.  He married his high school sweetheart, Freda Mae Sexton, on November 25, 1949 and to this union they were blessed with four sons: Keith, Buddy, Wes, and Kent.  He began his career with Canada Lumber, and retired from Luther Public Schools after 23 years over the maintenance department.  After retirement, he continued to drive Luther’s bus number 3, until he was in his late 70’s

J.C. was a member of the First Baptist Church of Luther since 1949, where he served as a deacon and a wonderful example of how to walk through life with the Lord.  He was a mason with the Fraternity of Freemasonry.  His faith was very important to him, and he made sure that his grandchildren knew Jesus.

Some of J.C. and Freda’s most cherished memories were the summers they would pack up their 5th wheel and travel across the country.  They would leave in May and return in August, while the rest of the family would meet up with them somewhere along the way.

The greatest joy in their lives was their grandchildren.  They attended every ball game they could, and J.C. always had money to hand out for their achievements.  He always made sure he told them how proud he was, even when they didn’t play their best.

J.C. enjoyed the simple things in life, like his morning coffee and walks down the railroad tracks with his grandkids.  He was known for letting his grandkids drive him around town in his truck, even if they were only in the fourth grade.

J.C. was a kind and gentle man who always had a smile on his face and never had a bad word to say about anyone.  Freda often says that he kept her in line and was always there to remind her to see the good in everyone.  He read the Bible to her every day.

The greatest gift he left us was his love.  He and Freda were married 67 years, and they were the most beautiful example of true live between a husband and wife.  Even in his final days, he did his best to shower his family in love and insisted that we take care of Freda rather than him until the Lord called him home.

J.C. was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Florence Kime, Helen Scott, Mary Ann Fent, Oma Lou Snyder; brother, Orvil Boydston; and sons, Keith and Buddy Boydston.  Survivors include his loving wife, Freda Boydston of the home; sons, Wes and his wife Lisa Boydston of Luther; Kent Boydston of Guthrie; daughter-in-law, Josa Boydston of Luther; granddaughters, Jenny, Micah, Megan and Marti; grandsons, Jay, Buddy, Kevin, and Dustin; great-granddaughters, Jacee, Hannah, Caitlin, Kiley, Carter, Madison, Jasie, and Mila; great-grandsons, Shea, Colin, Lane, Nick, Cade, Elliott, Henry, Brooks; great-great grandson Cedric; sister, Evelyn Porter of Jones; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday at 105 Main Street in Luther.  A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Luther with interment following in the Luther Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
