Glinda Wheeler Obituary

Glinda Ann (Harlin) Wheeler was born on February 18, 1947 in Plainview, Texas to J.B. and Avis Roberta (Matthews) Harlin. She passed away on June 30, 2018 in Yukon at the age of 71.

Glinda grew up in many small towns where her father pastored. She graduated in 1965 from Seagoville High School in Seagoville, Texas. She received her associates degree from Dallas Baptist College in 1967 followed by her Bachelors of Science from East Texas State.  After 10 months of dating, she married Donald Wheeler on August 1, 1970.

Glinda was well known as: Glinda Wheeler, Donald’s wife, Mom, Grandma, Grandy, and Gran-gran, and “the cake lady”. She was a loving and faithful wife to Donald. Her three daughters are so grateful for her support and encouragement to pursue God, to respect their husbands, and to be strong, educated women.  Her grandkids describe her as always caring, wise, loving and kind. She was an important part of countless celebrations not only as a service provider but as a trusted source of ideas and traditions. Glinda brought joy to families and friends through not only cake but also through her smile, joyful spirit, and servant heart.

Glinda was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Avis Harlin; and her husband of 43 years, Donald Wheeler. Survivors include her daughters, Stephanie and husband Grant Moore of Broken Arrow, Mitzi and husband Jame “Steve” Aylor of Yukon, Jae and husband Dustin Miller of Yukon; (5) grandchildren, Alexandria Moore, Thomas Aylor, Amelia Moore, Donovan Miller, Jaxson Miller; sister, Lynetta Thomas; brother, Robert Harlin; along with many other family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Glinda Wheeler Memorial Scholarship Fund – Kanakuk Summer Kamp. The family of Glinda Wheeler has set up a Memorial Scholarship Fund for Summer Kamp. Glinda was a faithful listener to Focus on the Family. One of her favorite guests was Joe White, director of Kanakuk Kamps. His passion for Christ and children were evident to all that heard him speak. Glinda started to pray that one day all her grandchildren would attend kamp together. This fund will be designated to send the grandchildren to Kanakuk Summer Kamp in Branson, MO
