Virgil Lee McLain was born October 13, 1946 in Wellston to Eartle McLain and Ruth (Overstreet).  He passed away in Wellston March 31, 2017 at the age of 70.

Virgil grew up in Wellston where he was very proud to have graduated from Wellston High School with the class of 1966.  He helped with the schools concession stands during the basketball and football games and was always there to lend a helping hand with the Wellston Alumni Association annual banquet.  He was a long time member of the Missionary Baptist Church where he loved helping in the nursery.  Virgil was a kind hearted gentle man who would always lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  He was a Wellston treasure loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Eartle and Ruth McLain; siblings, Caroline McLain, and Chester McLain.  Survivors include his two aunts, Martha Greenfield, Norma Reitz; many cousins; and the entire town of Wellston.

A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Missionary Baptist Church with interment following at the Wellston Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
