Thomas Walter Alsobrook was born on May 27, 1926 in Cale, Arkansas to Edgar E. and Zula May (Godley) Alsobrook. He passed away in Lowell, Arkansas, on March 10, 2018 at the age of 91.
After high school Thomas joined the Navy as a Naval Aviator in 1949. In 1955 he transferred to the newly formed Air Force and became a bomber pilot, where he flew B-24 and B-29 bombers. When Thomas transferred to SAC (Strategic Air Command) he flew nuclear missions during the cold war, Vietnam and Korea. After SAC, Thomas was a test pilot and instructor, and retired as a major in September of 1967.
After retiring from the Air Force, Thomas went back to college at Oklahoma State University and got his Master’s Degree. As a long-time resident of Lincoln County, his hobbies were raising Charolaise and Angus cattle, and designing and building his home himself.
Thomas was preceded in death by his wife; Patsy Jean Alsobrook and son Jerry W. Nutt. He is survived by his children, Thomas S. Alsobrook and his wife Michelle of Lowell, AR, Sheri East and her husband Russ of Lone Star, TX, John N. Alsobrook and his wife Sam of Luther, OK; five grandchildren, Thomas J. Alsobrook, Jason East, Laura East, Jonathan Alsobrook and Alysha Hancock; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 in the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Wellston Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
