Thomas Edward Taylor was born April 5, 1941 in Oklahoma City to Jess Taylor and Grace (Anderson).  He passed away March 26, 2017 in Oklahoma City at the age of 75. 

Tom grew up in Chandler and Hooker, Oklahoma and later went to Wellston where he was proud to have eventually earned his GED from Wellston High School.  At the age of 14, Tom went to work on a farm to help provide for his siblings.  He also delivered flyers for the theater in Chandler, worked in the oil field, worked construction, drove a truck, spent time as a farmer and rancher, among other jobs eventually retiring from the Oklahoma County District #3 after 27 years of service as a heavy equipment operator.  Tom was proud to have earned his pilot’s license and was an expert at card games and domino’s.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Grace Taylor; infant son, David Taylor; sisters, Carol Pierce and Rita Gibson.  Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Ellen Taylor of the home; children, Bryan Taylor and his wife Angie of Houston, Lauren Selcer of Edmond, Susan Smith of Oklahoma City, Steven Taylor; (6) grandchildren, Justin, Nick, Brooklyn, Cassady, Dalton, Wyatt,; (2) great-grandchildren, Madisun, Raegan; siblings, Connie Carmichael, Jerry Taylor, Ruth Pfiester; and a host of other family and friends.

A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Cornerstone Baptist Church with interment following at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Chandler.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
