Rita Marie (Taylor) Gibson was born February 15, 1943 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas to Jess and Grace (Anderson) Taylor.  She passed away May 19, 2016 in Oklahoma City at 73 years old.

Rita served as the Vice President of the Oklahoma Home Community and Education, Inc. in addition to serving as secretary of the Wellston HCE, Inc.  She served on the Wellston Community Library Board.  In 1957, she married Archie Smothermon and together raised (4) children.  She later married Ronnie Gibson in 1968.  Rita was very involved in missionary work through her church.  She was very competitive and enjoyed playing cards, bowling, golf and any other competitive activity.  She found great joy in quilting and won many awards for her work at the local fairs.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Carol Jean Pierce.  Survivors include her children, Timothy and his wife Roberta Smothermon of Reedsport, OR, Archie Dewayne Smothermon and his wife Charlotte of Ellensburg, WA, Clara Charlene and her husband Mike Kresse of Maupin, OR, Robert Lee Smothermon of Eaton, CO; (11) grandchildren; (11) great-grandchildren; siblings, Thomas Edward and his wife Ellen Taylor, Connie Lee Carmichael, Jerry Lon and his wife Martha Taylor, Ruth Ann Pfiester; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday May 24, 2016 at the Lehman Funeral Home in Wellston.
