Richard (Rick) Taylor
September 30, 1955 ~ September 6, 2017 (age 61) 61 Years OldLoy Richard (Rick) Taylor was born September 30, 1955 in Elk City to Loy Estell and Velma (Miller) Taylor. He passed away September 6, 2017 in Oklahoma City at the age of 61.
Rick earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Central State University in 1988. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for 4 years followed by 2 years in the National Guard and 20 in the Reserves until he retired. He volunteered for the Meeker Fire Department as a firefighter and EMT for 20 years and worked for the Town of Meeker Water Department for 15 years retiring March 2017. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading. He loved his children and grandchildren and spent as much time with them as possible. Rick was a people person who knew everyone in town and never met a stranger. He always had a hug to offer to everyone he met.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, and sisters, Kathy and Aleshia. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Karen of the home; children, Amanda of Chandler, Loy Dustin and wife Lacy of Lexington, John and wife Amber of Washington, Ashley B of Chandler, Ashley M of Stroud; 14 grandchildren, Landon, Jay, Makeighla, Kiesha, Jaxon I, Brenlee, Jaxon U, Phoenix, Layken, Paisley, Lyrick, Maiden, Quinn, and little Hudson that will be born in February, each special people in his life, not all born to him but each no less family; brothers, Rodney, Billy, Keith, Kevin, Sid, Greg; along with other family and more friends than can be listed.
A memorial service will be held Saturday September 16, 2017 from 4:00 till 6:00 at the First United Methodist Church in Meeker with brief service and military honors to start at 4:00 followed by a celebration of Life time of sharing. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
