Norma Joyce McDown was born January 26, 1934 in Chandler to Norman Webster Harris and Opal Virginia (Sackett).  She passed away June 8, 2017 in Wellston at the age of 83.

Joyce made a career as a portrait photographer.  During her time in Florida she was the president of the Beaches Art Guild in Jacksonville.  She enjoyed fishing and was able to get on a boat straight into the ocean from her home in Florida.  She also enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, and wildlife which is a reflection of much of the art Joyce displayed.  One word to describe her is passionate, as she had both hands and both feet in whatever she was doing.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Opal; husband, Loyd Earl McDown; and brother, Nick Harris.  Survivors include her children, Barry McDown and wife, Jessica of Arkansas, Loyd McDown, Jr., “Mack”, of Florida, Brenda and husband Wendell Nolan of Florida; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Leilanii Harris; one nephew, Norman Harris; along with other family and friends.

A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017 in the Lehman Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow in the Wellston Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
