Merle Leo Telford was born May 28, 1922 in Chandler to Joseph and Mary Telford.  He passed away November 25, 2016 in Chandler at the age of 94.

Merle grew up in Chandler where he attended school.  He was a farmer most of his life.  He later worked for the Chandler High School as their janitor where he was highly regarded by the students.  Merle was a deacon and charter member of the Chandler Southern Baptist Church where he also served in other capacities as well.  He enjoyed gardening and eating produce which he had grown himself.  His life revolved around his church and family and was a kindhearted person who was loved by many.

Merle was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Telford; son, Joe Merle Telford; grandson, Tyler Michael Telford; daughter-in-law, Pam Telford; sisters, Geraldine, Dorothy, and Gertrude.  Survivors include his wife of 76 years, Vera Telford of the home; son, Mike Telford of Chandler; daughter-in-law, Jana Telford of Chandler; (3) grandchildren, Jay, Taylor, Jamee; (3) great-grandchildren, Jade, Cameron, Joel; along with many other family and friends.

A graveside funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
