George Arlie Prince was born October 30, 1933 on his family’s farm, north of Davenport, the son of Oscar Howard and Alice (Strough) Prince. He passed away in his longtime hometown of Edmond on April 5, 2017 at the age of 83.

George’s early school years were spent at Pleasant Hill School and he graduated from Davenport High School, class of 1951. After graduation he attended Oklahoma A & M for a year and later attended Central State College in Edmond. His family moved to Oklahoma City in 1955.

In 1956 Uncle Sam called him into the Army, where he proudly served for the next 2 years in El Paso, Texas and 2 more years in the reserves. On April 20, 1963 George married Virgie Chenault at the First Assembly of God Church in Edmond. They enjoyed 54 wonderful years together. They currently attended Spring Creek Assembly of God Church.

One of their greatest enjoyments was traveling, camping, and visiting all the wonders of America that God created. Due to bad health problems and congestive heart failure, the last couple of years were spent at home watching the birds, foxes and squirrels. He always made sure the birds had plenty of sunflower seeds available to them.

George worked in the oil field industry for 30 years. He retired from Harper Oil Company in 1986 as a geological draftsman.

George was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nancy Prince-Kasakow; survivors include his wife Virgie, brother, Russell Prince and his wife, Gloria.

A visitation will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Davenport Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
