Evelyn Edith Hurst was born on June 5, 1942 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Richard and Gladys (McIntyre) Robinson.  She passed away July 30, 2017 in Chandler, Oklahoma at the age of 76.

Evelyn grew up in New Lima, Peru where father was a chemist.  She returned to the states and lived in Pennsylvania where she graduated from Hempfield High School.  She also lived in New Jersey, Ohio, Louisiana, New York and Missouri.  On her way to Galveston, Texas she stopped to use a payphone where she met Bobby Hurst.  They later married and settled in Warwick.  Evelyn worked in a sewing factory in Chandler.  She and her husband owned the Lonesome Dove Gift Shop where she made and sold painted feathers.

Evelyn attended the Kansas City Art Institute.  She was the oldest of 3 sisters and enjoyed crafting, quilting, painting, baking cakes for her grandchildren’s birthdays and driving her convertible.  She always gave the kids socks, pajama’s and gloves and loved when the grandchildren would come for visits.  Evelyn held a special affection for her little Chihuahua and had a love for horses and dogs and all animals.  She painted dog’s faces on Christmas ornaments. 

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Lee Hurst; sister, and brother-in-law, Peggy and Lloyd Hopkins.  Survivors include her sons, Brad Hurst and his wife Ashley of Carney, Bobby Ray Hurst of Oklahoma City; daughter, Cindy and her husband Rick Bottger of Abilene, Texas; (9) grandchildren, Krista and her husband Brad Hendrix, Carrie Ann Ballard, Jessica Pope, James Ethan Ramsey, Hayden Bradlee Hurst, Bailey Mae Ramsey, Emerson Jane Marie Hurst, Charles Bo Ramsey, Lane Kai Hurst, Bobby Lynn Hurst; (4) great-grandchildren; sister, Vivian Robinson; close friends, Elsie Hargrove, Levi Jackson who would stop in and check on her, Doug Duncan, Mark & Liz Hopkins, Brandon Danker, Tommy Little, and a host of other close friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017 in the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
