Billy Ray DelphonOctober 25, 1934 ~ April 5, 2017 (age 82)
Billy Ray Delphon was born in Chandler on October 25, 1934 to Worthey Ray and Pauline Geneva (Hargroves) Delphon. He passed away in Chandler on April 5, 2017 at the age of 82.
Bill graduated from Chandler High School, class of 1953. He pursued a degree in education and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Central State University in 1957 and then later with a Master’s degree from Oklahoma State University. Bill’s teaching career began in Wellston and continued in Chandler where he became junior high principal. Bill retired after 32 years of teaching. He was also retired from the Oklahoma National Guard where he attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer, III. Billy loved the Lord and was a member of the Chandler Southern Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and a Sunday School Teacher.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and infant daughter, Shari LaRae, and sister, Cora (Delphon) Hoover. Survivors include his wife, Kay (Ginn) Delphon; daughter, Terri and her husband, Kenneth Brewer of Sand Springs; son, John Delphon and his wife, Connie of Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren, Caleb and Nicole Brewer, Katelyn Brewer, Bethany Brewer, Kyle and Logan Delphon, Maddie and Danny Freyre, Emma Delphon; great-grandson, Carson Brewer; sister, Jane (Delphon) Chase; along with other family and friends.
A Funeral service was held at the Chandler Southern Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017 with interment following in the Oak Park Cemetery of Chandler. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
